    To help gauge innovation and the use of technology, this indicator records the percentage of firms using technology licensed from foreign companies. The results are based on surveys of more than 100,000 firms in 125 countries--except in 2006 and 2007, when this indicator was computed for the Manufacturing Module of the survey only.
