Casualties in Afghanistan
The Guardian recently published a couple of data sets on casualties in the war in Afghanistan. These data sets caught our eye, and we decided to upload the data to DataMarket and see what could be made of it.
First, we took the Afghan civilian casualties data set and linked the spikes in casualties to a few news events that may be related to the higher casualty rates. Hover the mouse on the lines or the event markers to read the values:
A few days earlier, the Guardian had posted a different data set with the number of British casualties in the war:
Finally, you can combine the two to see the number of civilian and British casualties in perspective. The event markers are still there to mark some major events.
